What gets recycled? No bag in the recycling bin
Paper and cardboard – Clean and dry
Hard plastic with #1 or #2 chasing arrow.
These are the only plastics that Recycle
Plastic cups only chasing arrow #1 all others are TRASH
All Glass jars and Metals
Aluminum foil Must be clean, dry and rolled into a baseball sized ball
Cling wrap & soft plastic bags – Clean and dry all placed in 1 one bag and only in Sausalito we can place it on top of recycling – or take it to Safeway on Miller Ave.
What gets composted? (in Sausalito)
Biobags only in Sausalito
All food waste
Paper plates, napkins, paper towels – food solid pizza boxes
Paper cups lined on one side only & only in Sausalito
Paper egg cartons
Bamboo or wooden utensils
Wine cork real cork, from tree bark
What gets trashed? No bag in the trash bin
Plastic with chasing arrows #3 – #7 or an empty chasing arrow
All crunchy plastic-like containers cookies, cupcakes etc
Plastic utensils including those that say they’re compostable –they’re not in Sausalito!
Plastic cups EVEN IF THEY SAY THEY ARE COMPOSTABLE – THEY ARE NOT!
Exception: #1 chasing arrow can be recycled
All Cartons Gabled and Long-life
Cellophane wrap transparent and crunchy wrap for food, flowers, giftwrap
Aluminum foil when it is soiled or wet
Wine corks made from plastic
Snack bags, and bags of composite materials i.e. chips
Clingwrap & soft plastic bags when wet or dirty (if clean and dry, see recycling above.)
