This presentation will also go over lifestyle changes and how to improve your odds and take control their health.

    Moe Roddy Biography

Moe Roddy is a retired RN and transplant to the bay area from St. John USVI and Newport RI. She has sailed and raced extensively in the Caribbean and North East both ocean racing and deliveries. In 2005, at the age of 51, she became the second woman to finish the single-handed leg of the Bermuda 1,2 ( the first having finished hours before her) and on the return leg to Newport her crew member was another woman, together they became the first women’s team to compete and finish both legs of the Bermuda 1,2. A record they still hold. She has spoken around the country about heart disease, the number killer of women, and uses her experience of both being a nurse assisting in open heart surgery and single handing to Bermuda to educate women about heart disease and empowering them to take control of their health. As she likes to say, “Sailing empowers women to do the things they thought impossible”. Moe recently retired after 34 years of nursing. She is now actively involved as a volunteer at the Guide Dogs for the Blind, is on the Advisory Board at the St. Francis Sailing Foundation and is active racing on Lulu with her partner and race management at both StFYC and SFYC.

    Hike:   Roy’s Redwoods
Wednesday, February 21 Meet at SWC at 9am

This is an easy to moderate hike with lunch afterward at our favorite Two Birds.
This hike is in San Geronimo, the trailhead is behind the golf course.

We walk through a beautiful meadow to this magnificent redwood grove and
huge boulders covered with moss.  We then continue up the hill to an open area where there is a choice of two loops: the short one for the easy hike and the longer one is 3 miles and more strenuous.

After the hike, we will have lunch at Two Birds

    Bring water, hat and money.

Please RSVP:  Margo Merle 332-5264 or Carolyn Ford 419-1711
